Many chemical reactions are initiated and aided by catalysts of various types. These catalysts are often made of precious metals such as Palladium (Pd/C), Platinum (Pt/C), Rhodium (Rh/C), Ruthenium (Ru/C) etc. Typically, 5% and 10% palladium/platinum/rhodium/ruthenium on activated carbon/alumina catalysts finds application in variety of reactions like hydrogenation, reduction, oxidation etc. Since precious metal catalysts are expensive, their recovery is very important from economic and environmental point of view. In traditional sparkler filters, leaf filters, bag filters or plate and frame filters which operate on a batch or a semi-continuous mode, filtrate needs to recirculate for complete filtration. This increases the time and cost of the process. Also, these filters require filter aid for proper filtration, and they have limitation of size of filtration area. Compared to these filters, sintered metal candle filters offer 100% recovery in one cycle with shortest possible filtration time. In addition to providing superior filtration in a single pass, these filters reduce operator exposure to process materials and volatile emissions.

Conventional mechanical seals are often the weak point and are the first cause of failure in a chemical process equipment because of their leakage problems and high cost of maintenance. Usually, mechanical seal is installed at a point where a shaft punctures the equipment and sets connection to the drive. Glass Main Parts

• Glass Pipe Section: The filter comes with a glass pipe section, with a diameter varying based on the model (DN40 for JE-ANF-5 to N5 for JE-ANF-100). An optional jacketed pipe section is also available.
• Top Dish: The top dish is made of SS-PFA lined material with options for N1, N2, N3, N4, N5, and N6 nozzles in various diameters and orientations (refer to image for details). An optional glass top dish is also available.
• Agitator: An SS-PTFE lined agitator with scrapper-type blades is included. Options for Hastelloy/SS material and a flameproof motor (ATEX certified) with gearbox and single mechanical seal are also available. A manual agitator option is additionally noted.
• Drive Assembly for Agitator: The motor power varies from 0.25 HP to 0.5 HP depending on the model.
• Glass Feed Vessel: The glass feed vessel comes in 21 L or 10 L options, with cylindrical or spherical configurations available. Graduation and calibration are noted as options.
• Glass Receiver Vessel: Similar to the feed vessel, the receiver vessel comes in 21 L or 10 L options, with cylindrical or spherical configurations available. Graduation and calibration are noted as options.
• Reflux Divider: A manual or pneumatic operated automatic reflux divider is available in various diameters (DN50 to DN100) depending on the model.
• Glass Condenser: The condenser type is C-Coil, with a surface area varying from 0.1 sq.m to 0.5 sq.m depending on the model.
• Filter Plate: A PTFE material filter plate is included.
• Filter Cloth: A PP filter cloth of 3-5 microns is included, with options for other micron filter cloth sizes.

Hardware

• Plastic Flanges, Inserts, SS Nuts, Bolts, Washers and Springs: A set of hardware including plastic flanges, SS nuts, bolts, washers, and springs is included. The plastic flanges are used according to DIN standards, with an option for SS-304/SS-316 flanges.
• Structure: The structure is made of stainless steel with provision for vertical filter movement. An option for MS epoxy coated structure is also available.

Safety Features

• Rupture Disc: A rupture disc is included to withstand vacuum and burst pressure rating of 0.6 bar at 100 degrees Celsius.

Automation and Instrumentation

• Temperature Sensors: One duplex 3 wire Class A PT100 sensor is included.
• Dial Gauge: One dial gauge is included on the top dish.
• Agitator RPM Controller (VFD): An agitator RPM controller is included if the agitator is motorized. An optional VFD is noted.
• Operation and Indication Panel: An operation and indication panel is available in two options: 1) Ex d enclosure or 2) PLC with ATEX/NON-ATEX approved HMI.
• HMI with PLC Panel (Optional): An optional touch screen HMI can be provided inside a flameproof enclosure along with a PLC panel. Enclosure options include Ex d enclosure and PLC placement in a safe area.
